cost to you
worth to me
what's it to me?
the best thing you could give me is a bit of your free time spent hanging
out with me. but if you're short on that, you can buy me one or more of the following objects,
listed from what i most want to what i least want
- ladder bracelet like so this one except with gold instead of hemp and semiprecious stone beads or marquise-cut emeralds instead of cowrie shells
- moscow soup. it's a dry soup mix with meat bits in it. i think there was a cow drawn on the package.
- large mirror, big enough to take up an entire wall, so that i can see
whether i'm doing yoga poses correctly.
- tropical
fruits and berries, as exotic as possible. for example, i have already tried lychee, durian, and red gooseberries.
- silk things, especially more long bathrobes and slips
- books on tape
- any poetry or "officially good" novels and short stories
- by good i mean the kind that would be read in english class.
- except for victorian english novels, which i dislike
- music
- parallel texts of hebrew or spanish
- knife. large professional chef knife. not that i have any illusions
about my level of skill.
- jewelry. this may not be a good idea, but if you insist on giving
me some anyway...
- i'm ok with gold, not silver, not platinum
- in gems, i prefer emeralds, or other green things.
- i already have two necklaces and earrings and a working watch.
i don't want any more of these.
- the only thing i don't have, and would therefore prefer to
receive, is a bracelet. i also don't have a ring, but rings are full of
symbolism and get in the way. also, perhaps a watch. a very waterproof watch
with a strap made of metal links (gold colored or two-tone), not leather or
plastic.
- flowers. i'm not sure i like them because the cut ones die and the
potted ones die slowly. but if tradition is necessary...
- birds of paradise, protea, kimi, ginger, heliconia, anthurium,
orchids
- these, and other tropical oddities, are sometimes sold at
dupont circle florist, or even at shopper's food warehouse
- or lilacs, which can be found outdoors in early may
- loose tea
- not "raspberry zest" or "energizing herbal" or any crap
along those lines
- but rather normal black or green tea, such as keemun, assam,
oolong
- chocolate. no "assorted confections". pure dark chocolate.
- silly putty
- a sporran
- shortwave radio. small enough to be portable,
but covering many frequencies.
- metronome
- bubble machine, like what felix cartagena has.
what's it to you?
as i already mentioned, i would prefer to hang out with you. but
here are the objects again, listed in approximate order from least
to most expensive.
